Stuff
1. This not diet thing is going fantastic. DeWitte's lost 10 pounds and Nathan keeps complaining that his pants are falling down. It's going so well, that even though I give them a free day every week, which Nathan took me up on it yesterday and had an all chocolate breakfast, DeWitte declined because he's feeling so good about himself. I think going down a pants size cinched it for him.
2. Wachovia went under and Wells Fargo picked them up. Whew..Wells Fargo is where our mortgage is. Wachovia is one of our banks, too (along with Bank Of America) but luckily we don't have more than a hundred grand (or even close) in any of our bank accounts so I'm pretty sure the FDIC still has our back. It's weird that I'm actually worried about it since I've never even thought about it before. Have you ever been so glad that you live within your means and you bought a house you could actually afford? *edit* Uuup..I just heard that Citigroup got Wachovia which is just fine with me..I'd rather my banks not be involved. I'm still happy I have an affordable house, though.
3. Yesterday a man outside of IHOP told me I looked pretty in my Huckleberry Hound t-shirt and plaid shorts. Then he said I had a nice "hair-do". I knew if I waited long enough someone would notice I dyed my hair, I just didn't think it'd be a crazy guy that I've never seen before outside of IHOP.
4. I get to work in the library at Nathan's school today and I'm really excited (And so is Nathan!). The librarian sounded a little taken back that I've never worked in a library before but I assured her that I'm a quick study. Have most people worked in a library before and I'm just unaware of it? No matter, I am a quick study and I understand the Dewy Decimal system, that's what I use to find my books, so I think I'll be ok. I don't know what librarians actually do, besides look really smart and studious then take off their glasses, let down their hair and look super sexy, but I can't imagine the volunteer's would have to do anything like that, which is good because I don't have long hair or wear glasses.
5. I was kind of disheartened to hear that only 10 other parents had volunteered, though. Only 11 of us could find time to volunteer at school? Oh well, maybe that'll mean she'll give me more hours which would be great because I get my best blogging material at my grocery store and at school and my grocery store's been kind of slow lately.
6. I'm gonna either wear my Sam-I-Am or my Green Eggs And Ham t-shirt...who knew I'd have clothes so elementary school, library volunteer appropriate?

Speaking of grocery store blog fodder, I was in the line the other day and some Amish ladies were behind me. I looked back at their cart and they had cream cheese jalapeno poppers and frosted flakes. Who knew they ate this kind of stuff?
And the Sam-I-Am and Green Eggs and Ham tees are perfect!
Uhhh.... YEAH!
"No matter, I am a quick study and I understand the Dewy Decimal system, that's what I use to find my books, so I think I'll be ok."
You're ahead of the curve then because a lot of people who are old enough to know what a card catalog is look at me with glazed over eyes when I mention the Dewey Decimal System.
I had to learn Dewey Decimal from our librarian in middle school. I can't remember it any longer but what was up with that? I think she took it upon herself. Come to think of it, she was probably just finding a way to scam 7th graders into doing shelving for her. Hrm...
I worked at my college library, them ladies were strict!! LOL. But it was great fun and I think it's wonderful that you're volunteering. I'm always amazed at how few people get involved in that kind of thing.
Yay on the diets!
WF has our mortgage too. My sister works there and I keep thinking I should email her to make sure they're not going to go under too, but I'm too afraid of what the answer might be.
