Dive Bombing Bats..
and much much more...
DeWitte took out the video camera and tried to video tape the bats..they're fast! He got one, though...You gotta look carefully at the slow motion at the end. I'm nowhere to be found in this one. I learned my lesson when I met one face to face.
While he had the camera out, he got this really loud frog that croaks every night behind the pool. Turns out it was this teeny tiny little tree frog that didn't seem to notice that our pool filter doesn't have leaves. The night vision thing makes his eyes glow...creepy!
The next day we noticed that the mourning doves that kept building their nest over our front door, and failing miserably, finally made it work. I don't know if they learn from their mistakes or if they just got lucky this time but they've got a little baby mourning dove up there.
And then Nathan accidentally found a robins nest full of babies. He was pulling on a branch on the birch tree and it was like ringing their little dinner bell. Peep peep.

Ok, the bat, not so cool. I haven't seen any this year, but we haven't really done any swimming at night.
How cool is the baby mourning dove??? I've never seen one. That is just ridiculously cute.
Squeeeeeeee! I loves me some National Geographic in ma own backyard! I love bats and birds and everything! Great videos!
I can't see the bat one, though, cuz I am at work and it's a crappy picture...I'll look at that one when I get home! We have loud loud Froggies around our pool, too. They are so cool!
My dog pretty much keeps the National Geographic on all the other sides of the fence, except when he kills a rabbit or a bird, and then I get a pretty good view of some wild guts.
We had a pool at our house we used to have, we had lights outside and swam a lot at night, we were always getting dive bombed by bats, I would freak out all the time LOL!!!
